Boiler Replacement, Clarke Centre Job No: Project No: 914 Construction Mgr./Contractor: Consultant:: Atkinson Engineering Inc Project Description: Design has begun for replacement of three of the five boilers. Modifications to the roof will be required to allow for extraction of Boiler #1 and craning in a new 100,000 lb. unit. Once this unit is on line, the other two boilers will be decommissioned, removed and replaced with one 50,000 lb. unit. Both of the new boilers will include a super heat section and economizers for efficiency. They will be capable of running on natural gas or oil. It is expected that Boiler #1 will be installed within a year.The project is estimated to begin on 4/30/2010 and end on 4/30/2011. Emergency Power Generators, E.T. Clarke Centre Job No: Project No: 907 Construction Mgr./Contractor: Comstock Consultant:: P.B. Engineering Project Description: Two new emergency generators are being installed on the roof of the E.T. Clarke Centre. Each generator is capable of generating 1,250 KW’s of power. This will double our emergency power generating capability and will serve our needs for the foreseeable future. The project includes running new main feeder cables to the north, to feed the new Stadium and sports complexes, as well as routing to the south, to feed the new Engineering Technology Building. Security Improvements Job No: Project No: 909 Construction Mgr./Contractor: STF Construction Consultant:: VRM Project Description: An emergency notification system comprising of 3 sirens will be installed on campus. The system will be used to alert students, staff and faculty of emergency situations. Two of the sirens will be installed on 50’ high poles, one on the boulevard by Mary Keyes Residence, in line with the stack and the other will be next to the ravine by the Alumni Memorial Building. The final siren was installed on the JHE penthouse roof on August 6. Commissioning of this siren will be completed before the end of the month.The project is estimated to begin on 3/1/2008 and end on 6/30/2009. Strobic Fan Replacement, ABB Job No: Project No: 913 Construction Mgr./Contractor: Consultant:: Atkinson Engineering Inc Project Description: A high plume fan system will be installed on the Physics Wing of the Arthur Bourns Building. This system will take lab and fume hood exhaust and dilute it, while expelling it high into the atmosphere. The fume hoods will get new controls and monitors. This installation will be similar to the exhaust system that was installed on the research wing of the same building last year. The roof on this wing of the building is over 40 years old and will be replaced as part of this project. Also the Motor Control Centre (MCC) for this wing will be replaced.The project is estimated to begin on 6/30/2009 and end on 9/30/2009.
